The Indonesian 3×3 basketball team is aiming for a gold medal at the SEA Games XXXI Hanoi, Vietnam, which will be held from 12-23 May. This optimism is reflected in the previous results which were able to contribute silver. The Indonesian national team is confident that it can be better than the Philippines as the main competitor in the Vietnam SEA Games later
“This is a challenge for me. With a month of preparation, I have to be better than yesterday, especially when presenting gold in Hanoi is still open,” said 3×3 basketball coach Ali Budimansyah through the federation’s statement, Tuesday (15/3).

According to him, the map of competition in Hanoi will have an effect because the Philippines’ strength is not the same as the previous SEA Games when it hosted it. At that time, the Philippines used the best players from the PBA league and forced Indonesia to be content with getting silver.
Ali said the Philippines will field different players at the Vietnam SEA Games later whose quality is below the 2019 SEA Games. “I am challenged because the players’ conditions are good, they are still competing in IBL 2022. That means, physically and individual skills are honed. It’s just a matter of strengthening the mindset later. It’s just a game because 5×5 and 3×3 are different,” he said.
The 3×3 basketball national team will start training together on April 4. The training camp (TC) will be attended by 10 players whose composition is a combination of senior and junior players under 23 years as part of the regeneration.
The composition consisted of several players who took part in the 2019 SEA Games, namely Surliyadin, and Sandy Ibrahim Azis, and Oki Wira Sanjaya. Then there is Jamarr Andre Johnson and three young players from the regeneration section such as Julian Chalias, Serigne Modou Kane, Dame Diagne.
He also hopes that the national team can conduct trials abroad to finalize the game. (Perbasi/Dhk/A-1)
