A total of 500 joint personnel from the police and local government will be deployed to secure the MotoGP racers parade in Jakarta, Wednesday (16/3) tomorrow. Karo Ops Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Marsudianto said the 500 joint personnel would be stationed along the road, from the Merdeka Palace to the Kempinski Hotel, Central Jakarta.
“To anticipate that there will be no crowds of spectators watching the journey from the Palace to the Kempinski Hotel,” said Marsudianto, in Jakarta, Tuesday (15/3).
Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo explained that his party will carry out security during the parade series which starts at 10:00 to 11:00 WIB. His party will secure the route from the State Palace to the Kempinski Hotel by closing the road during the parade. While from the opposite direction will continue to run normally as usual.
“So we only close one stream when the group passes from the Palace to Kempinski,” he said.
Then during the parade later the police and local government will provide security along the road. This is done to prevent spectators from entering the street during the parade.
“Officers will be stationed to carry out a posse so that there are no spectators who suddenly dart into the middle or maintain security from the racers,” he said.
Furthermore, Sambodo asked the public to avoid the Jalan MH Thamrin area during the parade to reduce vehicle density. He asked the public to support the implementation of the parade of MotoGP racers.
“Let’s carry out this activity well, we will show that Jakarta and Indonesia are ready to be good hosts for the implementation of MotoGP,” he said.
On the other hand, Deputy President Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association, Cahyadi Wanda, said as many as 20 riders from the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 teams will take part in the parade in Jakarta on Wednesday (16/3) tomorrow. Cahyadi said that the winner of six MotoGP titles, Marc Marquez and the 2020 MotoGP world champion, Joan Mir, will follow the motor cycle from the Merdeka Palace to the Kempinski Hotel Bundaran HI.
Cahyadi said that later the parade would also be followed by Indonesian racers participating in Moto3, namely Mario Aji. In addition, there will also be 60 other motorcycle cyclists from a number of motorcycle manufacturers in Indonesia who will take part in the parade.
“There will be 20 racers tomorrow starting from Marc Marquez, Joan Mir, Bagnaia, Jack Miller. So, in total there will be 20 racers, including also in the series are moto3 racers, as well as ATC racers from Indonesia,” said Cahyadi in Jakarta, Tuesday (15/3).
Cahyadi explained that tomorrow’s event will begin with the racers approaching President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace. This, he said, was carried out as a form of respect before the MotoGP race was held in Mandalika, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on 18 March.
“Tomorrow, it is planned that the President (Joko Widodo) will receive the racers, starting with breakfast together and then there will be a short chat at the palace,” said Cahyadi.
After that, President Joko Widodo officially released and congratulated the racers from the Merdeka Palace at 10:00 WIB. Then, the racers will be escorted to the Kempinski Hotel. (OL-12)
