Sad news comes from the basketball world in the country. The former Indonesian women’s basketball player who once strengthened the national team, Jacklien Ibo, died on Thursday (17/3) in Sentani, Papua.
The news of the basketball player’s departure was conveyed by PP Perbasi. “Our condolences for the death of Jacklien Ibo,” said the head of the PP Perbasi, Danny Kosasih.
“She is a real example of a Papuan women’s basketball player who can penetrate the national level. I hope that Papuan talent will never run out of being the successor of Jacklien, to be eager to penetrate the national level,” he added.

The Papuan-born basketball player died after previously suffering from a lung disease. During her career, Jacklien was one of the top players in the women’s basketball competition, which was then called the WNBL.
He became the mainstay of Tomang Sakti’s Mighty Bees player and is identical to the number 12 jersey. Jacklien has also won several individual awards. In fact, he was chosen as the best player or MVP for the 2012 season.

The woman who was born on November 25, 1990, also often strengthens the Indonesian women’s basketball team at the SEA Games in 2007, 2011, 2013 and 2015. Her peak achievement was when she led Merah Putih to a silver medal at the 2015 SEA Games.
The Minister of SOEs who is also a FIBA Board Member, Erick Thohir, also expressed his condolences. Erick visited Jacklien last year in Sentani. He did not expect that this meeting would be the last.
