Berrettini undergoes hand surgery

Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berretini underwent minor surgery on his hand following his withdrawal from the Miami Open on Wednesday (30/3) WIB.

The Italian world number six, who reached the semifinals of the year’s first major tournament in Melbourne, withdrew just before his opening match at the ATP 1000 level.

“My team and I have spoken to medical experts since my withdrawal from Miami with a right hand injury,” Berrettini said.

“After several scans and examinations, we decided minor surgery was the best solution to ensure a full and speedy recovery.”

The 25-year-old said the operation went ‘very well.’

“The doctor and my team have discussed my plans to return to the field. I will provide the latest information as soon as this plan is completed,” concluded Berrettini. (Ant/OL-1)
