World number one Daniil Medvedev beat Ilya Ivashka for the second time in six days on Thursday (16/6) to advance to the quarter-finals of the ATP tournament in Halle.
Medvedev won 7-6 (7/4) and 6-3 over his 42-ranked opponent after also beating the Belarusian in the quarter-finals of s-Hertogenbosch last week.
The first seed from Russia overcame three set points in the first set before clinching victory via a tie break.

The second set went much smoother for Medvedev with the 26-year-old ending the match in 1 hour and 36 minutes.
“He is a great player. He was unlucky to have an injury at the start of the season. At the end of last season, he played amazingly,” Medvedev said of Ivashka.
“I’ve known him for a long time. We’ve faced each other since the Futures, Challengers and now the ATP Tour stages. He’s also beaten me in the Davis Cup.”
“He always performs well on grass. So, I am very happy to be able to win twice in a row over him,” he continued.
In the quarter-finals, Medvedev will face seventh seed Roberto Bautista Agut. (AFP/OL-1)
