Indonesian men’s doubles pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana made it to their first final at the All England badminton championship, Saturday (19/3) night WIB.
Facing the world number one pair Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Fikri/Bagas who appeared as debutants at the All England fought hard to win the rubber games 22-20, 13-21 and 21-16.
This victory is also a proof for the young pair that they are unbeaten from The Minions, nicknamed Marcu / Kevin, by holding a 2-0 win-lose record.
Previously at the Denmark Open 2021, Fikri/Bagas succeeded in overthrowing The Minions in a three-game match with a final score of 17-21, 21-17 and 23-21.

Even though they have made it to the finals, Fikri/Bagas’ journey is not over yet they still have to win in one last match, facing the winner between the Chinese pair He Ji Ting/Tan Qiang or their compatriots Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan.
Whoever Fikri/Bagas will face in the final, it will be their first meeting, however, when they meet The Daddies, nicknamed Ahsan/Hendra, of course Fikri/Bagas will know a little about the strengths and weaknesses of the seniors.
If they face He ji Ting/Tang Qiang, it is expected to be a difficult match considering that the Chinese pair are ranked 11th in the world, which is quite far ahead of Fikri/Bagas who sit at 28th in the world.
However, if you look at the journey of Fikri/Bagas throughout the All England championship, it’s not impossible for them to win the title, because Fikri/Bagas have overthrown a number of top-notch pairs, including the winner from the 2021 World Champion from Japan, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi in the semifinals.
