Ducati Duo Aiming for Redemption in Mandalika

FRANCESCO Bagnaia and Jack Miller will seek redemption at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit this weekend after the two Ducati riders failed to finish in the season opening race of the Qatar Grand Prix.

Bagnaia fell and Miller prematurely returned to the Ducati garage at the Losail Circuit two weeks ago.

This weekend, after 25 years, Indonesia is again hosting the MotoGP world championship, this time on the island of Lombok.

The Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, which was inaugurated last year when it hosted the World Superbike season-ending race, has also been the site of the MotoGP pre-season test last month.

During the three days of testing in February, Bagnaia and Miller appreciated the layout of the 4.3km circuit surrounded by panoramic hills and beaches, while trying to find the best setup for their Desmosedici GP bike.

Pecco and Miller will have a new challenge after the circuit has new asphalt in some parts, as well as the volatile weather conditions in Mandalika.

“I like the Mandalika track, and I had a positive sensation during the test in February,” Bagnaia was quoted as saying on the team’s official website.

“I hope the grip conditions improve thanks to the new asphalt, but in general I think it’s a good track for the characteristics of our bike.

“Compared to the first weekend in Qatar, I will try to improve my riding style more starting from the first session to find the right feeling with the Desmosedici GP soon.

“I’m very determined and I’m sure I can do well this weekend.”

Meanwhile, Miller wants to forget his disappointment in Qatar and is ready to fight in Mandalika.

“This season didn’t get off to the start we expected, but we are in a good position at Losail,” Miller said.

“If we don’t have any technical problems we can aim for a good result. So I hope to continue on the same path and take more steps forward to seek redemption for myself on Sunday.

“I am ready to face all conditions to achieve good results,” he concluded. (OL-8)
