Jojo Expelled from Indonesia Open After Defeated by Zhao Jun Peng

Badminton player, host Jonatan Christie, said he was impatient when facing Chinese representative Zhao Jun Peng in the last 16 of the Indonesia Open 2022 at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, today.

Jojo, Jonathan’s nickname, was also annoyed because he had made the same mistake many times in the match.

“Honestly I was very disappointed and more angry with myself because several times I shouldn’t have hit that shot, but I did it anyway and it pissed me off,” Jojo told the media after the match.

The world number eight men’s singles also admitted that he should have been able to calm his emotions when he was facing a difficult situation on the field.

Furthermore, Jojo said his defeat tonight was caused by non-technical things. He regrets that he should also be more patient to kill the balls from the opponent.

“Should have been more patient, make him run first. But I thought I was impatient to do that,” he said.

Jojo’s defeat repeated last week’s results when the Indonesian representative was also eliminated by the same opponent, Zhao, in the first round of the 2022 Indonesia Masters. (Ant/OL-4)
