Leaving Jakarta, MotoGP Racers Head to Lombok

AFTER following the parade in Jakarta, the MotoGP racers departed for Lombok. They will take part in the Mandalika MotoGP race, which is scheduled for this week.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan said that 20 international racers had left the Kempinski Hotel since 16.00 WIB. The racers were escorted by police officers when they left for Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

« They were escorted by tourism buses to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, » said Zulpan when contacted, Wednesday (16/3).

Meanwhile, the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran ensured that the Mandalika MotoGP parade activities were safe and orderly. Following is the implementation of health protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic.

« Security activities can run safely and in an orderly manner, while still complying with health protocols, » explained Fadil in an official statement.

Furthermore, he revealed as many as 747 joint personnel were deployed to secure the MotoGP parade in the capital city area. The combined personnel consisted of units from Polda Metro Jaya and Kodam Jaya.

Both institutions are involved in security efforts. Starting from security around the State Palace area, the parade route along Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat and Jalan MH Thamrin, as well as the Kempinski Hotel area in Jakarta. (OL-11)
