DANIIL Medvedev failed to return to world number one after losing to Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (9/7) 6-3 in the quarter-finals of the Miami Open, Friday (1/4) WIB.
Medvedev, who lost his position as world number one after losing to Gael Monfils at Indian Wells, could displace Novak Djokovic if he beat Hurkacz, the defending Miami Open champion.
However, the Russian lost to Hurkacz and failed to qualify for the semifinals of Miami Tebruka.

“He is an extraordinary player. It is very difficult to face him,” Hurkacz said of Medvedev.
The score of the match between Hurkacz and Medvedev is now a 2-2 draw.
In the semifinals, Hurkacz will face the winner of the match between Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic. (AFP/OL-1)
