MARIO Suryo Aji confirmed that he wanted to finish in the Moto-3 race on Sunday (20/3) at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, NTB. Not only finishing, he also really hopes to get points
“Please pray for tomorrow’s race and Mario’s target is to finish in a position (who can give) points,” said Mario after the second qualifying session, Saturday (19/3).

Previously at the Qatar GP earlier this month, Mario failed to get points because he finished in 19th position. To be able to get points at Mandalika, at least Mario must finish in 15th position. But, that would only give him 1 point.
Meanwhile, if you win, you will get 25 points. Then the second podium finisher gets 20 points and the third gets 16 points.
Mario’s chance to gain points on race day is pretty big because he was very surprising in qualifying. Mario became the third fastest driver in that phase.
From the qualifying results, it was decided on Sunday that Mario would start behind CFMOTO Racing PruestelGP driver Carlos Tatay who finished in first place during qualifying and Diogo Moreira, the MT Helmets-MSI jockey, in second.
“Incredible, the first front row for Indonesia after 25 years, I can give a surprise for Indonesia,” said Mario.
Mario refused to be able to perform well during qualifying because of his status as the host. He just said to stay focused on the race. “But, because I can also feel good (with the motorbike) in Mandalika,” he explained.
Furthermore, for race day Mario said all strategies have been prepared, especially for tire selection. “We cannot predict the weather 100%. So (tyres) can be wet or dry. The settings are ready,” he concluded. (OL-6)
