The Indonesian racer who took part in the Moto3 event, Mario Suryo Aji, performed brilliantly during the qualifying round at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, NTB, Saturday (19/3).
From the results of the qualification, Mario has the right to start in the front row or in the 3rd position. The Honda Team Asia rider in the second qualifier scored a time of 1 minute 41,567.
Mario, on Sunday (20/3), will start behind CFMOTO Racing PruestelGP driver Carlos Tatay who finished first and Diogo Moreira, the MT Helmets-MSI jockey. Tatay recorded a time of 1 minute 41.232 seconds and Moreira 1 minute 41.315 seconds.
Mario was able to enter the second qualifying round because he finished in second place during the first qualifying session. Mario’s achievement in the second qualifier was also very surprising considering the combined results of three free practice sessions, he only finished 23rd.

According to the rules, to be able to compete for pole in the Moto3 class, a racer must be the fastest in the second qualifying. He can enter the second qualifier if the combined results of three training sessions put him in the top 10.
If he is outside the top 10, he must go through the first qualifying session and enter the top four list to qualify for the second qualifier.(OL-5)
