Nadal Defeats Korda in Indian Wells . Second Round


RAFAEL Nadal came from behind in the third set to beat Sebastian Korda in the second round of the Indian Wells tennis tournament on Sunday (13/3) WIB, and maintain his perfect record in 2022 to 16 games to mark a loss.

Nadal, who is ranked fourth in the world, started the season on the best record of his career. At Indian Wells, the left-hander beat Korda 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7/3).

Nadal kicked off 2022 by winning the Australian Open, becoming the first male player to win 21 Grand Slam titles.

He went on to become champion in Acapulco, last month, and is today racing to win his 37th ATP Masters 1000 title.

Even though he had to win with difficulty, Nadal said he was happy.

« Can win no matter what. I will play again in two days, » said Nadal.

Korda, ranked 38 in the world, led 5-2 in the third set and hit match points twice. However, Nadal managed to get up and force a tie break.

Korda briefly led 3-2 in the tie-break before Nadal bounced back and won five straight points to emerge victorious. (AFP/OL-1)
