The Indonesian Rowing Team added one gold medal to their collection at the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games, which took place at the Hai Phong Canoeing and Rowing Training Center, Vietnam, Friday (13/5).
The gold medal was obtained from the lightweight man’s four number led by Mahendra Yanto, Ali Buton, Ferdiansyah, and Denri Maulidzar. They finished first with a time of 6 minutes 47 seconds.
Vietnam is in second position 5.1 seconds adrift of Indonesia, followed by the Philippines who finished third in 7 minutes.

Ferdiansyah said he was relieved to be able to meet the target of winning a gold medal in that number, as well as defeating the home team which he considered to have a strong and solid team.
“Actually, it is difficult to catch Vietnam. They are good and a solid team. Although from the start our target was gold, but we did not expect to be number one,” said Ferdiansyah to the CdM media team.
Unfortunately, the success of the men’s team has not been able to be followed by the women’s team. In the lightweight women’s quadruples scull, which was strengthened by Melani Putri, Mutiara Rahma, Anggi Widiarti, and Nurtang, Indonesia had to be content with the silver medal.
The gold medal belongs to the home team who finished the fastest with a time of 7 minutes 11 seconds, 7 seconds adrift of Melani Putri and her friends.
With these results, the Indonesian rowing team has now collected three gold and three silver medals. Merah Putih still has the opportunity to add to its gold collection today until Saturday (14/5). (Ant/OL-1)
