Indonesian women’s singles badminton player Putri Kusuma Wardani secured a place at the 2022 Orleans Masters. Women surprisingly succeeded in overthrowing the third seeded Danish representative, Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt 21-10, 22-20 in the semi-finals which was held at the Palais des Sports, Saturday ( 2/4) local time.
“Actually, from the start I just tried to play without a burden. My opponent was far above, both in terms of ranking and experience. I don’t want to think about winning or losing, the important thing is to give my best,” said Putri.
The princess played very dominantly and without difficulty in the first game. The match began to be even in the second game, Putri, who is ranked 78th in the world, was ahead 18-14.
However, Putri had time to lose point by point until the setting was 20-20. At this critical point, listening to the coach’s instructions is the key for Putri to finally be able to finish the match. “I was careless and didn’t focus. Like I forgot what pattern to use to turn him off,” explained Putri.
“After setting I was just desperate and continued to follow the instructions of the coach behind me,” he said.
In the final match, Putri will challenge the representative of the United States Iris Wang. The two of them have never met before. “Everything is ok in the field. At least tomorrow from a non-technical point of view it must be repaired. The tension must be removed,” said Putri.
“Hopefully tomorrow I can play better and get the best results,” said Putri.
With this result, the Red-White squad sent two representatives to the final of the Super 100 level tournament. Previously, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati also successfully won the final ticket. (PBSI/OL-12)
