Quartararo Moves MotoGP Free Practice Session to Golf Course

An unusual atmosphere appears in the MotoGP event in Argentina. The series of races was delayed, due to delays in planes carrying motorbikes and other logistics.

As a result, the riders were unemployed, because Friday is usually filled with free practice sessions. Fabio Quartararo et al also get around the empty day.

The racers held fan meetings in the paddock, played soccer, and changed free practice to the golf arena.

“Usually, my Fridays are more interesting than this (without free practice),” joked Quartararo via his social media account.

At the golf club around the Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit, the racers try their hand at it. Jack Miller, Alex Rins, Marcel Schrotter, Dennis Foggia, Sam Lowes and the CEO of Dorna, Carmelo Ezpeleta, also joined the golf course.

Quartararo showed his ability, while Miller and Bagnaia seemed to struggle to hit the ball. The racers don’t seem used to playing golf. As a result, the missed shot became a sight for entertainment.

No doubt, recreation to the golf arena is really a ‘free practice’ for the Moto-GP racers. “I feel like Tiger Woods,” Quartararo joked.

Some teams, such as Gresini Racing, were late in preparing their empty garages, due to logistical delays. Apart from Gresini, some of the logistics belonging to the Ducati, KTM, Pramac, Suzuki, Yamaha, Tech3, VR46 and tires from Michelin teams were also delayed.

But finally, the plane carrying the last cargo landed at Benjamin Matienzo Airport at midnight local time. A number of teams also had to stay up late preparing pit boxes and motorbikes in a short time. (MotoGP/Motorsport/OL-11)
