CHAIRMAN of Commission X of the House of Representatives, Syaiful Huda, suggested that the government anticipate bad weather during the Mandalika MotoGP by using technology and rain handlers. This was conveyed to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin who conveyed the plan to use weather modification technology (TMC).
“Just double it, mas. The usual rain handler is the same as the TMC one,” said Huda in a working meeting (raker) with Menparekraf Sandiaga at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (16/3).
Initially, Sandiaga said that the preparations for the Mandalika MotoGP were 100% complete. Including anticipating bad weather.
“Of course we have to pray to Allah SWT because this weather is something we need to anticipate as well,” said Sandiaga.

The Gerindra politician said that efforts to anticipate heavy rains had been carried out when the World Superbike (WSBK) was held, namely using a rain handler.
“There was a handler during World SuperBike, sir. But in the end the handler sued the committee, sir. Because of the handler, it kept raining,” he said.
The organizers also admitted that they would use TMC to anticipate heavy rain during MotoGP. The technology operation is carried out in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), and the Indonesian Air Force (AU).
“We hope that we can help mitigate the situation,” he said. (OL-5)
