The 6th PRESIDENT of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, expressed his high appreciation for the success of the 2022 Proliga. The man who is familiarly called SBY also thanked the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali, who gave his full support so that the country’s highest volleyball league can be well organised.
Proliga had been in a vacuum due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After two years, the competition was finally able to roll back with a bubble system at the Police General Kunarto’s Volleyball Padepokan, Sentul, Bogor Regency, West Java.
After going through a series of competitions, the winner of the 2022 Pro Liga has been determined. In the men’s category, Bogor LaVani came out as the winner. While in the women’s category, Bandung BJB Tandamata became the champion.
As the coach of Bogor LaVani, SBY is grateful that the 2022 Proliga can run smoothly. SBY acknowledged that holding a sports competition during the Covid-19 pandemic was not easy.
“Alhamdulillah, the 2022 Proliga volleyball tournament was completed last night. On behalf of the LavAni volleyball club, I express my gratitude and high appreciation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, PBVSI and PT Proliga who have worked hard to hold the 2022 Proliga,” said SBY, Thursday (31/3).
“Of course, the LavAni family is grateful that our club has succeeded in becoming the 2022 Proliga Champion. However, the six volleyball clubs participating in this tournament have relatively balanced abilities. In the Preliminary Round, you could say they beat each other,” he added.
The success of Bogor LaVani coming out as the winner was a surprise. This newcomer to the Proliga is able to prove himself competing with the elite teams.
Menpora Zainudin Amali also praised Bogor LaVani for being able to break the tradition of winning in the Proliga. The Minister of Youth and Sports hopes that Bogor LaVani’s steps can be a catalyst for the revival of Indonesian volleyball.
“We are grateful and proud that this year Bogor LavAni as a newcomer to win, this is a sign that if the coaching is serious and can also be seen in good teamwork, the results will not deceive the process. I hope this is a good example for other clubs,” said Menpora Zainudin Amali.
“Hopefully the competition for the Proliga competition next year will be more exciting, tighter and finally our national team that will be formed, which was born from the Proliga competition is a strong and strong national team and makes the entire Indonesian nation proud,” hoped the Minister of Youth and Sports.
The 2022 Proliga is also expected to be a warm-up before the 2022 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Indonesian volleyball team is targeted to maintain the gold medal in the biennial event.
Moreover, volleyball is included in Presidential Regulation Number 86 of 2021 concerning the Great Design of National Sports (DBON).
“God willing, we can maintain this gold medal in the SEA Games in Hanoi Vietnam and I believe and believe in the quality of the players with this competition. God willing, we can still defend the gold medal in Hanoi Vietnam in the future,” said Menpora Zainudin Amali. (OL-13)
