SEBASTIAN Vettel will miss the series opener of the 2022 Formula 1 season at the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend. The Aston Martin team driver tested positive for Covid-19 and had to undergo isolation.
The four-time world champion was forced to step aside and his position will be temporarily replaced by reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg.
For Hulkenberg, the Bahrain GP will be his first race since the Eifel GP in Germany in 2020.

At that time he also replaced Lance Stroll in the Racing Point team. Before that, Hulkenberg also had time to fill the position of Sergio Perez at Silverstone, England.
Meanwhile, McLaren driver, Daniel Ricciardo, is certain to return and go down at the Bahrain GP. He has been declared recovered after being exposed to COVID-19 last week and was absent from the test session. (OL-5)
