The way a man dresses can reflect his personality. According to a survey, men who like to wear high-end brand items and show it to everyone, for example wearing a belt with a Hermes or Louis Vuitton logo clearly visible, are considered cheating.

Daniel Kruger, a psychologist from the United States, said that men who often appear wearing high-end products with flashy brand logos or writings tend to be more sociable. In addition, men like this are also less trustworthy and reliable.

Just as a male peacock will spread its beautiful wings to attract the attention of a female bird, a man who likes to wear branded clothes with a clearly visible logo is also trying to do the same. What’s more, based on studies, striking branded clothes or accessories also make men look more attractive in the eyes of women.

“Large luxury products (with logos) increase the sense of social competition and attraction to the opposite sex, while small brand logos increase the perception of being more trustworthy and reliable,” said Daniel Kruger, as reported by the Daily Mail.

In a study involving 376 college students, respondents were shown a Ralph Lauren polo shirt with its iconic logo on the left chest. There are two types of polo shirts, one with a small logo and the other with a larger, more visible equestrian logo.

They were then asked to imagine a man wearing a polo shirt with a small and large logo. From that image, respondents were asked to answer various questions about what they perceive about the man in their image from various aspects, then give a score on a scale of 0-100.

As a result, respondents assessed that men who wear polo shirts with larger brand logos will be more interested in short relationships and tend to cheat. They are also less interested in long-term or committed relationships with their partners.

“One can translate this ‘short relationship’ as cheating on a partner. We do not describe this specifically but quite consistently look at the general pattern that exists from the results of the study,” he explained.

He continued, “Men who wear T-shirts with smaller logos are considered safer when they want to have a long-term relationship. These men are considered more established, reliable, happy with children and loyal partners.”

Daniel Kruger also concluded that luxury goods, especially fashion, have long been associated with social status, although they cannot be generalized. Men wear high-end items for different purposes. Yet a number of studies capture the same pattern of behavior.

“Wearing branded goods that are not too visible shows a more traditional and classy social status, while appearing flashy (with the brand logo) wants to show treasures that don’t last forever. That can be the difference between serious men and those who like to play games,” he concluded.
