There is an Invitation from BWF, Chico Aura to Join the 2022 World Championship

The men’s singles badminton player, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, is included in the Indonesian squad that will depart for the 2022 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Chico was sent after PBSI received an e-mail from BWF, which invited Chico’s participation. « We just received an email from BWF that Chico was invited to take part in the 2022 World Championship, » said the Head of Public Relations and Media of PP PBSI Broto Happy in his statement, Tuesday (9/8).

The 2022 World Championships will take place from August 22-28 in Tokyo. With the entry of Chico, the Indonesian men’s singles sector sent a total of four representatives. One representative from Indonesia, namely Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, was withdrawn by PBSI because he had not recovered from a calf injury.

« So in total, the Red and White squad in the men’s singles sector still sends a maximum of four representatives. Chico will certainly leave, » added Broto.

Chico, who won the Malaysia Masters 2022 last month, said he was happy to be given the opportunity to appear in the World Championships. Regarding the target, he is determined to give the best appearance.

« I am happy to be participating in the World Championship this time. I will try to use this opportunity as well as possible, » said Chico.

Indonesia sent a total of 15 representatives to Tokyo. In the men’s singles sector, there are Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo and Tommy Sugiarto. For women’s singles, there are two representatives, namely Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani.

It is known that the men’s doubles sector sent four pairs, namely Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.

The women’s doubles have two pairs, namely Ribka Sugiarto / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma / Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi. In the mixed doubles, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, and Zachariah Josiahno Sumanti/Hediana Julimarbela, also competed. (OL-11)
