Trae Young scores 47 points as Hawks beat Pacers

TRAE Young scored 47 points as the Atlanta Hawks overcame a late comeback from the visiting Indiana Pacers before clinching a 131-128 victory in the United States NBA basketball competition on Sunday local time (Monday WIB).

Young scored 13 of 20 shots from the field, including seven three-pointers, and hit 14 of 14 free throws, including four in the final 28.8 seconds to help Atlanta seal victory.

It was Young’s second-most points and the seventh time he has scored more than 40 points. With the win, Atlanta increased their win-loss record to 3-0 over the Pacers this season.

The Hawks had a 19-point lead, but conceded 69 in the second half and Indiana narrowed the gap by two when Duane Washington Jr. scored two free throws with 1:09 remaining. But Young twice restored the lead to four points with two free throws.

Indiana had the last chance to equalize when Hield made a free throw and missed the next opportunity. Atlanta’s De’Andre Hunter grabbed the rebound to deny the Pacers a last-second chance.

Six Atlanta players scored in double figures, including Hunter and Danilo Galinari with 15 points each, Kevin Huerter with 14, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Onyeka Okongwu with 13, and Clint Capela with 10.

Three Indiana players had more than 20 points in the game, Hield and Tyrese Haliburton on 25 each and Washington equaled his tally of 22.

Indiana, whose eight players are on the injury list, were without starting line-up Malcolm Brogdon, while the Hawks were without second-highest scorer John Collins. (Ant/OL-4)
