Without Leani Ratri, Indonesian badminton players remain confident in their achievements

Badminton is one of Indonesia’s mainstay sports to gain achievements in the 2022 ASEAN Para Games (APG). The title of mainstay deserves to be pinned to the Indonesian badminton team, because it has been proven to be able to achieve achievements both at regional and international levels.

Unfortunately, the Red and White squad was not reinforced by its flagship athlete, Leani Ratri Oktila at the 2022 APG. The badminton queen of Indonesia was absent because she was currently on post-natal leave.

However, the Indonesian badminton team still carried optimism. Six gold, four silver and four bronze medals are targets to be met.

“The target is indeed given to every sport. We, the badminton team, have a target of six gold medals, four silver and four bronze medals,” said Indonesian badminton coach Yunita Ambar Wulandari in an official statement from the Indonesian Paralympic Committee (NPC Indonesia), Sunday (31/31/2020). 7).

The six gold medals are projected to come from Ukun Rukaendi (single men SL3), Fredy Setiawan (single men SL4), Deva Anrimusthi (single men SU5), and Khalimatus Sadiyah (single women SL4) from the singles sector.

While the other two gold medals are expected to emerge from the doubles sector via Fredy Setiawan/Dwiyoko (men’s doubles SL3-SL4) and Deva Anrimusthi/Hafizh Briliansyah Prawiranegara (men’s doubles SU5).

On that occasion, Yunita said that the status of the host would provide its own advantages for the Indonesian badminton team at the 2022 ASEAN Para Games. Moreover, they have long held the National Training Center in Solo.

“Incidentally, the national badminton team is in Solo. As the host, we may be superior in adapting to the environment and the match venue. We have also practiced more at the venue where the match will be used. So, the adaptation can be better prepared,” he said.
